The idea of therapy can feel anxiety provoking for some, especially if you’ve never attended a session and aren’t sure what to expect. I’ll meet you where you’re at and do my best to support you on your journey.
To start you can book a free 15 minute consultation where you’ll have the chance to ask questions, share a little bit about why you’re looking for support and I’ll explain how I’ll work with you.
From there, if you decide this is a good fit, in your first session I’ll spend some time getting to know you (i.e. your strengths, what you’re struggling with and other information you feel would be helpful for me to know).
Then we’ll decide together what would be the most helpful thing to focus on, create goals and move ahead with additional sessions to support you and work towards those goals.

There can also be a lot of questions, when you’re starting therapy for the first time. Here are a few frequently asked questions (FAQs)…
How do I start?
Schedule a free 15 minute consultation or email me.
Do I need a referral?
No, you don’t need a referral to book an appointment.
Services are often covered under “Registered Social Worker” with your extended health benefits, so you may want to confirm with your insurance provider.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long, but shorter or longer options are available depending on what you need and what makes the most sense.
How often should I schedule sessions?
It is common for sessions to be scheduled every other week to give you a chance to work on what’s discussed in session and not feel overwhelmed. In some cases, it may be more beneficial to have sessions more or less frequently. As we work together, we’ll figure out what works best for you and your situation.
How much is a session?
A 50 minute session is $190, a 25 minute session is $95 and a 85 minute session is $285.
Does OHIP cover the cost of a session?
No. OHIP does not cover the cost of counselling/psychotherapy sessions. Services are often covered under Registered Social Worker with extended health benefits plans.
If you’re not sure if this will be covered under your plan, please call your insurer or HR department to find out.
Do you offer a sliding scale or reduced fees?
I have a limited number of reduced fee spots for those experiencing financial barriers. Please contact me for availability.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
I understand that sometimes life happens and so I ask for advance notice whenever possible. If a session is missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice a 50% fee will be charged.
How long will therapy last?
Everyone is at a different point in their journey and need different levels of support. For some, a few sessions are all they need. For others, it can be much longer. As we work together we will focus on what’s most helpful for you and determine what makes the most sense.
Can I switch between in-person and online sessions?
Yes. Many people switch between the two depending on their schedule and what they need.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Yes. Online therapy offers the same level of support and it offers flexibility and convenience.
What do I need for an online session?
You’ll need a private space, a reliable internet connection and a device with audio and video capabilities.
If we’re using the Expressive Arts in our sessions, you may need other supplies (e.g. paper, pen, markers, etc.), but I will let you know about that in advance.
